On Sunday March 22, 2009 Sr. Warden John Conway announced that the Search Committee and Vestry had unanimously called The Rev. Dr. Julie Bryant  as the 4th rector of Transfiguration.

SEARCH UPDATE:

As announced in church on Sunday, the Search Committee unanimously selected their choice of a candidate to be submitted to the Vestry for its consideration in our long quest for a new rector. That candidate was invited to meet with the Vestry on Friday, February 27. After a long session of challenging questions and discussion, the candidate was dismissed, leaving the Vestry to make their decision. By secret ballot, the Vestry unanimously elected to call the candidate to be our new rector.

The identity of the chosen person will be revealed after negotiation of the terms of necessary documents.  If all goes well, this should happen this week.  There are several other considerations and mutual agreements to be made, including when the new rector can start.   If all goes as expected, you should see your new rector in our pulpit in early June.

Father Bill Ledbetter made a promise to me and the Vestry that he, as Interim Pastor, would push us into areas where we needed to grow to help us to be in a good condition when we call a new rector. He has certainly kept his promise. This has been his role as our Interim Pastor as described by the policies of our Diocese.  Although there has been unfortunate talk and rumor to the contrary, it has been made firm and clear by the Diocese that no Interim Pastor can be considered as a candidate to be rector.  So let us put that idea behind us.

Father Bill and his beautiful family have a lot of friends in this congregation, including my wife Ginger and me. We owe him our gratitude, respect, and appreciation for how he has not only held us together after troubled times, but has helped us to grow and be a vibrant and holy place that will become the parish home for our new rector. I am proud of what Bill Ledbetter has done for us.

I trust that next Sunday you will all know who your Search Committee and Vestry has chosen, with the guidance of our Lord, for sure, to be our Rector of the Church of the Transfiguration.
