A message from your stewardship committee
Not so Good News, Good News and Hope
After contacting
all of our regular members and friends, your Stewardship committee
wants to bring the parish up to date on our 2010 Stewardship
Campaign.
First
the facts for 2010:
-
47 of
our 2009 pledges have been renewed for 2010;
-
14 of
our 2009 pledges not yet responded;
-
3 new pledges have been made for 2010.
What
do these numbers tell us? We believe it is fair to say that there
is 1) not-so-good news, 2) good news and 3) hope.
First,
the not-so-good news: As of today we are facing a budget short-fall
of $35,000.and it may be unrealistic to think that those 14
unanswered pledges will make up our short-fall.
What
does that shortfall mean for Transfiguration? Well, we can "get
by" by using our reserve funds. And baring unforeseen emergencies,
and with today’s current level of pledging, we could even get by for
the next four years. But more importantly our current shortfall
means a lack of new programming and service.
Now
the good news: When your stewardship committee looked at this last
year's pledges and this year's budget that “shortfall” was twice as large! Now that the
majority of you have responded to God's called, we have cut that
shortfall in half! That brings considerable joy to our hearts!
At
our last meeting our rector asked us to join her in a prayer of
gratitude for the gracious and courageous response you are making to
the immediate needs of Transfiguration's mission and ministry.
That
brings us to the hope: your stewardship committee knows that prayer
works. In the few short months since we began this year’s effort,
prayers have been answered. So first, in hope, we ask for your
prayers that God’s work will continue in this Holy place for many,
many years to come.
Secondly, please consider this year’s pledge. If you have made one,
we are grateful. If are still considering yours, please know that
this is a special year – one in which your pledge will allow God’s
work to continue at Transfiguration, to grow and become the place we
all want it to be.
Thanks to you all.
