Transfiguration is a happy combination of new and old. Originally
dedicated on June 22, 1926,
In 1951 the California Mission
style chapel (now the back or East side of the current building) was moved to Arcadia, California and renamed
Transfiguration Below you will see a little of both new and old.
Come and share it with us as we continue to
change and grow.

The words for the tour were written by Lola
Palmer for our 50th anniversary.
As you enter the Narthex, there are two stained glass windows -- one of
St. Mary, the other of St. Francis.
The baptismal font is in the Narthex. The stone font portion came from
Wales and is almost 500 years old.
.
The tiled lunette above the entrance to the sanctuary is of St.
Mary, the Holy Infant, and Cherubs; it was a gift to the Chapel from a
Mrs. Milbank and was originally outside the exit door of the 1926
chapel.
Another lunette is above the opposite side in the main sanctuary.
It is a carving of dogwood blossoms by Grace Day and was added after the
1953 expansion.
Above the Day carving (above) is a small rose window. It represents the Annunciation.
Originally it was placed on the exterior wall of the 1926 chapel.
It is an exquisite example of this art form. To get a glimpse of it,
Eight clerestory windows line both sides of the nave. Each bears a
symbol of Mary - two of which are pictured below.
The most striking feature in the main sanctuary is the 1979 stained
glass window above the old high Altar. There are many interpretations
credited to the window. What is yours? With the exception of the
Annunciation window, all of the stained glass windows were made by John
Wallis and Associates, Pasadena, CA
Take some time to wander around our grounds ... we
are so blessed to have such a beautiful location or take a "virtual
