Your Stewardship Committee would like to share the letter that accompanied the March 31 statements mailed to pledging members. so that everyone is aware of our financial health. The bulk of the letter follows: As you already know, members of Transfiguration are generous. Few congregations have such a high percentage of their members who give so freely of their time, their talent, and their treasure. Last November, your Stewardship Committee said it would keep you all advised about our financial health through quarterly reports. Three points: 1) our overall pledge support hovers at 85-90% fulfillment, which is typical for the first quarter of the year; 2) since Robin Field’s retirement, we have not spent the full staffing costs budgeted, but do expect those costs to return when a permanent staffing decision is made; 3) we have gratefully received several generous gifts that have reduced the anticipated 2010 deficit. Addressing both our deficit and financial commitments continues to be a challenge that will require our full participation and dedication. The figures below tell the story: Parish Financial Summary: Year-to-Date, February 29, 2010 Pledge Budget $27,310 Pledge Income Received $23,761 Fulfillment Percentage 87% |
Expenses Budget $34,120 Expenses Incurred $31,951 Year-to-Date Deficit $2,169 Anticipated Year-End Deficit $15,000 – 18,000 What these figures do not capture is a full picture of the community’s devotion to our ministries. In the last few months, Wayne Reinecke has installed a sound system for the church; a team of volunteers (Helen Stancer, Elaine Clinton, and Kathleen Rose) support the office staffing; and often unseen hands make sure that light bulbs get replaced, rosebushes trimmed, locks repaired, and leaks sealed.God has brought our family of Christians together to worship and to change the world. The Altar Guild, Choir, Ushers, and Acolytes all work together to provide Sunday and weekday worship. We deliver groceries weekly to Foothill Unity Center and during Lent clothing, toys and household goods were collected for Haven House. We pray for our outreach partners and are planning the June 12 Friends Outside Walk. Through this Resurrection season, please join us in praying: Almighty and everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth, hear our prayers for this parish family. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. -Your Stewardship Committee |
